Being Green, Environmentally Green, That Is!

Going Green with Your Own Multi-Paw Bag

Dog lovers need to be conscious of the environment. We can do this, and still be stylish and show our love for our four-legged friends. The multi-paw bag shown in this post is big enough to bring home those small purchases and you won’t need to use a plastic bag. It is made of very durable material and has outside pockets with zippers so that it also serves as a handbag. This means you have one hand free for the leash to bring along your dog, and you can still stop and pick up those items that you need.It is also a great bag to use one pocket to hold biodegradable poop bags to ensure you always have one handy for picking up after your pet. Did you notice I said, biodegradable?  How can you be truly green, if you are still using plastic bags. Depending on the source, and it appears no-one knows for sure, but it appears that it can take from 20 years to 100′s of years for plastic to decompose. So now you know why bio-degradable poop bags are necessary. Our grocery store is environmentally “green” and uses bio-degradable grocery bags, in case you forget to bring your own.  Now I thought I would save these and they would make great poop bags, are free, and would save me money. Well, I stored them in my sun room, ready for the next time I needed a few for a trip to the great outdoors with my dogs. I was rummaging around looking for something the other day, and found the grocery bags I had saved. I picked one up, and it disintegrated into powder in my hands. So, a word of warning – if you are going to save bio-degradable grocery bags- don’t save them for long, instead use them soon. The sun on these bags seems to hasten the biodegrading!I am not just green when it comes to avoiding plastic bags.  I also ensure that my dogs help the butcher in being green. We all know that bones take a long time to bio-degrade. Well, I always stop by and purchase some very big ones – for my Airedales. They assist in the process of bio-degrading. I looked out this morning and see that the large bone is much smaller now. Soon I will need to see that butcher again and assist him again in being “green”.I’d love to hear from the rest of you, as to what “green” practices you have so that I can introduce a few more.
